Ullhas falls
These are the Ullhas Falls. The start of the Ullhas river which flows from here (Khandala) into the Thane creek. The falls are a fantastic view on the Mumbai-Pune highway in the ghats. Because of the scanty rainfall this year (2009) the falls are 1/4 their usual size at this time of the year.

Into the White : Mahabaleshwar
From the top Khandala Ghat.
So we went to one of the rainiest places in Maharashtra. Mahabaleshwar. In July. This year the rains were less than normal. But still the place was in the clouds all the time. I did not want to come back. :)
From the top Khandala Ghat.
This is were we stayed : MTDC. The buildings date back to 1892. The weather was like this all four days.
It rains so much here that whole building are plastic wrapped. Those few which are open have protection from the incessant rain.
Percy on Savitri point. The wind was so strong that it was difficult to walk. Cloud, rain and wind swept up the steep valley.
The gang. In high wind and rain.

So finally I went for a trek after 6 agonizing long years!! Gorakhgad. I simply loved it! Thanks to Percy and Deepak without whose help it would have been very difficult.
